It's Beginning to Look Alot Like Christmas...
Hello All My Fabulous Blog Viewers!
Can I tell you a little secret?!?
I was feeling a little "Bah Hum Bug-ish" lately!
I'm not sure why exactly...
I love Christmas!
It's my favorite time of year!
But this year, especially, I was feeling a little blue...
I have a few theories...
1) My children aren't little kids anymore - heck, my baby will be 11 in a few days! I miss the wonder and magic of the holidays when you are with little, little children.
2) I'm so busy! My mother would say - "Too Busy!" and then my grandmother would agree!
3) There's no snow in Murrieta!!! It just doesn't feel like Christmas without snow!!!
4) Christmas has become so commercial! It's all about buying things and getting things...
Christmas to me has taken on a whole new meaning...
It was all a little depressing...
Then I went to church yesterday...
and what do you know...
the lesson was on how to bring Christ back into Christmas!
So I started thinking:
"Why do I celebrate Christmas and what does it mean to me?"
I went back to the reasons I was feeling so blue and looked at them another way -
1)My sweet Logan...he's 12, and he has a heart of gold!
We were walking through the store just a couple days ago and he saw some ornaments...
He grabbed my hand and said "Mom! Look at these! I think we should do the whole tree in just these colors! Wouldn't that look cool?!?"
I looked at him - those beautiful blue eyes twikled - and he was 5 years old again!
He was so excited!
So we bought some new ornaments!
He could hardly contain himself!
The excitement spread!
He got Michael to help him set up both our trees...
Then they had dad get down the ornament and decoration boxes...
Logan and I went through all the boxes and we set out the decorations.
Then we laid out all the new ornaments that we bought and added some we already had that matched the color scheme and we started decorating the tree.
Listening to Christmas music in the background as we worked...
We were about done, when Logan made an observation "Mom, it's so sparkly!"
He was right - it is very sparkly!
We'll be decorating the other tree tonight!
That's the tree that the special ornaments are put on!
You know the ones I'm talking about...
The ones handmade by four very special boys over the past 11 years or so...
The ones that make me cry, happy/sad tears every time we put them on the tree!
Even though my children are big boys...
They love Christmas, just as much as I do!
I'm so grateful to them for showing me that no matter how old they get, it is still a magical time of year!
2)Yes, I'm busy...and I feel that I've kinda let a few things slip through my fingers this year...
our family picture didn't get taken.
For the first time in my 15 year marriage...
my husband asked me when we were going to have our picture taken!
Normally I drag him kicking and screaming!
(not really, but it's almost as bad as going to the dentist for him!)
It's ok...I'm not stressing about it...I'm letting it go...
Deep Inhale - and long EXHALE....
We'll get it done while the kids are out of school for break!
And instead of Christmas cards...
New Years cards or Valentine's Cards!
I have also made a list for 2008 of things to do starting in July to help prepare for the Holidays...I'll let you know how that turns out!
I am reminding myself the Cub Scout Motto - "Do Your Best!"
3) Oh get over the snow thing!
Jesus was born in the desert!
And in a stable no less!
It's not what's around you -
It's who's around you!
Family and friends!
Celebrating the birth of our Savior!
And it's cold in the snow!
4) I was listening yesterday to some amazing ideas on how to help our family have a more Christ centered Christmas...
Some of our traditions are already in place to help with that...
But this year we are trying to find ways to serve others rather than thinking only of our selves!
So to conclude...
Christmas to me is to celebrate the birth of our Savior...
and to be with my family...
It means love - love of the Savior and love of my family!
I'm so thankful to my husband and children!
It's the little things they do that show their love for me!
I'm also so thankful to all of you - my friends, students and blog viewers!
Sorry I got so wordy...
But I have had a change on my outlook...
Like the Grinch...
My heart grew three sizes today!
Have a very Merry Christmas!
Hugs and Kisses to all!

Star Sighting - Kelly Panacci from Sandylion
I wanted to share part of an email I received today from my friend and amazing designer, Kelly Panacci, who designs bunches of awesome products for Sandylion.
"Thanks so much Terina for continuing to support the KP line.
I love all your projects. I did see one of the layouts before but I
love the second one also. I'm not sure which one I should scraplift - I love them both!...When I tried to publish my comment on your blog it wouldn't let me cuz I don't have a google i.d - but I love, love your book."
I always love to get emails from KP!
She's so sweet and down to earth!
I'm excited for her new lines that will debut at CHA-Winter!
Just wanted to share my blog star sighting!

Schedule Change
I can tell that the Holidays are here!
I schedule things and then have to change them...
because something else pops up!
Well...my youngest boy has earned his Arrow of Light (Cub Scouts)
And the pack meeting is the same time that I was supposed to be at
It's About Time in Murrieta...
So...I called my friend Mel and we changed my Christmas Book to Dec 17th
And we're not going to do a December sketch class!
Sorry about that...but I can't miss this milestone in my son's little life!
Who would take the pictures?!?
have a great week!

Scrapbook Room - BEFORE & AFTER
I have been a busy little bee!
I was feeling very cluttery!
Is that a word?
I don't like clutter!
So I decided to make a few changes...
Before, my scrapbook room was ok,
but nothing looked like it went together.
It was a jumble of different containers, tables
boxes and shelves...etc
Stuff was litterally STUFFED everywhere!
Not very pretty to look at, at all...
so here's before:
and After:
Although I wish I could paint the walls another color -
which is just not an option right now...
It is so much more organized!
My pretty new furniture is from IKEA
I love that place!
I bought a chest of drawers to hold stuff
instead of putting things in boxes...
Now it is accessible and I can get to things easier.
My shelves are so beautiful!
I just need a new desk...
but I haven't found anything that I like -
or that is big enough...
I'm thinking a kitchen type table that matches my furniture
Pretty and practical - with lots of room to spread out!
I like the organization of everything.
Hope you like seeing what I've done!
Just another thing that makes me happy!

Daisy D's Rub-on Tape Review & Layout
Well - here's the layout that I did using the new Daisy D's rub-on tape...
I love it!!! The rub-on's that is - oh and the layout too!
I was a little skeptical at first...
because you know with rub-ons - they can be a little unpredictible...
and now in a new way - I just wasn't sure...
BUT OMGosh! they are great!!!
So easy to use, too...
If you can use a tape runner, you can do these rub-ons!
It was the perfect thing for around the mat of the picture!
I know it's hard to see it in the pictures...
I tried to get really close up with the camera, but it didn't come out right,
but trust me they are super cute!
I love this picture of Trevor!
I had to create something that was something to show off this picture!
So to go along with the Daisy D's rub-on tape...
I found this cute Halloween paper and embellishments from Daisy D's as well.
I know Halloween is over and now we're moving into the Christmas season...
but I just had to do something with this great picture
And it was the perfect opportunity to try out the new rub-ons!
What a truly innovative, new way of doing rub-ons!
Less stress - no mess!
So my vote is YEAH DAISY D's!
Two thumbs up!

Last Cruise for 2007 - Pictures & Update
WHEW!!! I'm all done with cruises for the year 2007!
It was so much fun spending time with everyone!
But honestly...I need a few months to rest up for the next ones!
Yes...it's true...I am already booked to go on three more for next year!
OMGosh!
I had so much fun with Cool Scrapbook Stuff - Gena (Christopher too!) and all the ladies were so much fun to spend the weekend with!
Here's some highlights of my weekend...
Gena, Me and Christopher...see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil!
some of the gals gettin' a little crazy!
by the end of the weekend...everyone was gettin' a little crazy - even Gena!
On this trip...lots of scrappin' was had by all! My table mates Debbie and her mom Kris...finished the projects they brought to work on...their Alaskan cruise pictures have left the building! I finished a bunch of stuff I brought to work on...about 20 pages in all! I finished a super cute layout (which I'll post next)using that new Daisy D's rub-on runner stuff! OMGoodness! I love em!
Anyway - I hope if you weren't able to join me this year, that you'll be able to join me next year - 2008 will be GREAT! (ok...it's late, and I'm a little punchie!)
ta ta for now!

An OCD Moment
I have this thing about how everything has it's place...
There's an order that things should go in...
Well...you all know that I love embellishments!
Ribbons for one
But I have also got a thing for buttons!
Over the last few months, I've been collecting buttons
and more buttons...
and even more buttons!
All the things they come in are very cute and clever -
except when storage is a problem...
All those different size and shape containers aren't convenient!
I needed a solution...
I found one at JoAnn's...
These little snapware boxes that stack and lock together!
So I bought 4 stacks...
and went to town organizing by color!
Kurt just shook his head as he watched me sitting there
seperating the buttons by color into all these little trays!
I think he thinks I'm crazy sometimes...
I think I'm a little OCD sometimes...
So here's to my OCD moment -

Over 100 pages scrapped in 2007
I can't believe it!
I have scrapped approximately 120 personal pages in the year 2007!
Not including my page exchange pages...
or my class projects...
WOW!
I have so many more to do!
Maybe I'll reach 200!?!
My goal for the year was 100...
now that I'm there...
I think I can do the 200!
Here are some of my most recent pages
and some of my favorites...
of course they're of the boys!
Who else am I going to scrap?!?
enjoy!

New Find
I love finding new stuff!!!
After my class last night at It's About Time,
I had to look around and shop - of course!
What to my wondering eyes should appear?
But these three little packages
holding what looked like tape runners,
but were actually rub-ons that went on like runners
with dashes and zig zags and swirly flourishes!
So now, I'll have to use them in a project or layout
Then I'll let you know if I love it or not!
I'm thinking I'll love it!

New Look
I saw this commercial the other day
It said something about "Girls, be brave not beige!"
I was looking at my blog and thinking...
I'm so beige!
I'm not beige!!! I'm PINK!!!
I'm not very computer savvy
but I can change the template with what they offer!
So that's just what I did!
But NO PINK!!! Bummer!
So instead I'm blue with dots!
If I could figure out how to make it look like
a bunch of ribbon...I'd do that!
So, I hope you all like the change...
Oh, I almost forgot!
I added my "Top 10 List" to the left
It has my favorites and what I couldn't live without items!
enjoy...

Saturday Night
I'm just sitting here at my computer
country music softly playing in the background
the boys and I had a great time tonight
Our neighbor had a Halloween Party and we decided to go!
It sounded better than staying home and doing nothing
So we went with our scary dinner entree in hand - "human hearts, marinated in blood!" (aka...chicken breasts in bbq sauce)
I'm sad...because my boys are getting so big
costumes aren't cute anymore
no more purple dinosaurs, Power Rangers, and pirates
no more cute little pumpkins, firemen, and magicians
no more wanting to be Harry Potter, Buzz Lightyear or a Ninja
those have been replaced by the gross and the scary ideas of teenage boys
well since mom doesn't like gross or scary...our costumes have been dwindled to nothing more than t-shirts
well back to the party...
I'm glad we went, because my kids were just that tonight...kids
there was a pinball contest...out of about 20 kids, it came down to the four boys...
Michael beat Korey
Logan beat Trevor
So it now it was Michael and Logan battling for pinball champion...Michael prevailed!
Then everyone carved pumpkins
everyone did awesome...but Michael was on a roll...his won for scariest
then a little karoke
a little more pinball
some yummy, gross looking treats
then we were heading back home...
nothing like a nice, quiet night out with the Matthews boys...
by the way...my hearts in blood...won 2nd place for grossest looking entree!
not bad
Happy Halloween...

Fires in Southern California
I get on the boat Friday and everything was fine...I get off the boat Monday and all of Southern California is on fire!
I wanted to let everyone know if you read this and are affected by the fires that my prayers are with you!
Right now we aren't in the direct path, but in the Temecula/Murrieta valley we are getting alot of the ash and smoke...
Some of the stores that I teach at have been evacuated...Cool Scrapbook Stuff in Poway is one - I spoke to Gena and she and her staff are fine, but all have been evacuated, even the store as well...She is in a hotel in downtown San Diego right now.
I also have some friends in the San Diego county area that have been evacuated, but all are staying with family and are ok.
My son just came home from school and told me that one of our teachers from the middle school lost his home in the fire and a little friend from our soccer league has too lost their home.
I just had to say something, because my heart is so full of emotion and sadness right now. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who are in anyway affected...
May God bless all of you -
terina

Cruise #2 - Collective Journey
Hello Again Everyone! Just got back from cruise #2 with Collective Journey in Redlands...so much to tell you about...
My cabin buddy this time was my very good friend, Vanessa -
We were also joined by my friends Natalie (whom I've know since junior high school) and Sharon.
This cruise was a little different for me...in that, I originally wasn't supposed to teach on the cruise and it was going to be my "girls weekend" to get away and scrap. But when the store asked me to teach, of course I couldn't say no! But still, my friends were on this trip and we didn't change any of our plans to make it our girls getaway! This group of friends that I went with are very serious scrappers! In all, the four of us completed over 230 pages in three days! Natalie was on top with 64 completed pages, followed by Sharon and Vanessa who each completed about 55 pages each and then me I finished 59 - but 48 of those were my page exchange pages, 9 were my personal pages and 2 were Vanessa's cute little baby Hannah!
Natalie and Sharon won the photo scavenger contest! They were women on a mission!
And the four of us (Totally Cool Funky Divas) won the Saturday night PJ contest for best team spirit!
I have to tell you a funny story - After dinner Saturday night (which is formal night) the four of us went to our rooms to change for pj night in the scrapbook room. We had the great idea to go downstairs where everyone was having their pictures taken in their formal wear and get pictures taken in our pjs! What a funny sight to see - four grown women (who between the four of us have 13 children) in our jammies, waiting in line with all these fancy dressed people - looking at us as if we had lost our minds! To a few of them we said "oh we must not have gotten the memo that it was formal night - we thought it was pajama night!" A few people laughed! The photographer thought we were crazy - in a good way, and wanted to keep taking our pictures! But we finally had to tell him we had to go... And have you ever had that nightmare that when you least expect it, especially when you don't have make-up on, you will see someone you know...well that's exactly what happened to me! Here we are in our purple pj's and who of all people do I see, Coach Bob! He was the boys' baseball coach a couple years back...I think he thought we were crazy, in a bad way! lol But at least it wasn't my high school boyfriend or something like that!
Anyway... we had so much fun! Even though this time the water was a little rocky, it was a great weekend! Hopefully next time, if you didn't make it this year, you'll be able to join me next year!
Cruise #3 is just two weeks away!
take care -

Cruise #1 - It's About Time Scrapbooks
What a great time was had by all! We celbrated It's About Time Scrapbooks 1st anniversary in style on the high seas!
For this cruise my cabin buddies were Elaine and Nancy - two of my students who I am glad to also call my friends!
On Friday night the three of us closed down the scrapbook room at 2am (I guess that's really considered Saturday morning) and then on Saturday night (Sunday morning) I had to go at 3am while Nancy and Elaine scrapped until 5am! OMGosh!!!
There was lots of fun besides scrappin' - we ate of course! Our waiter, Peter was the bomb! He was from Slovakia!
Some gals went into Ensenada...I didn't though...too busy teachin and scrappin!
Here's some more pics from the trip!
Yvonne and Gayle (aka my family) also went on this trip -
Some of the It's About Time Girls -
Mel gettin funky at dinner -
Everyone in our Time Travelers shirts! What a sharp bunch we are!
We all had so much fun! I met a few new gals that aren't from around Murrieta...I'm looking forward to seeing them again! I personally finished 19 pages (not alot, but I was busy having fun and also teaching).
Well...that's not all for me...I still have two more cruises to go! Hope you are able to join me next time - we all had so much fun!
see you soon,
terina
